Don't hate the playa, hate the game...
Re: Tide auditioning for the WWF
Suspension should be one game just like all the other players Slive has suspended this year. He can't make the call on all the other situations and then leave this last one up to the head coach.
Re: Tide auditioning for the WWF
I dont think there should be a penalty. To me its what you get when you run a 160 pound back up the middle into a 325 pound dt.

Slive will do whatever Nick Saban tells him to do.MSDawg870 wrote:Suspension should be one game just like all the other players Slive has suspended this year. He can't make the call on all the other situations and then leave this last one up to the head coach.
Slive should be fined for bringing Missou into the conference.

Re: Tide auditioning for the WWF
Here are some of the applicable rules:
Foul
ARTICLE 1. A foul is a rule infraction for which a penalty is prescribed. A
flagrant personal foul is a rule infraction so extreme or deliberate that it places
an opponent in danger of catastrophic injury.
SECTION 1. Personal Fouls
All fouls in this section (unless noted) and any other acts of unnecessary
roughness are personal fouls.
Not to mention the provision of the Southeastern Conference Constitution, cited in the suspension of Trae Elston: Article 4.4.2 (d) a student-athlete may be suspended if it is determined that the student-athlete has committed a flagrant or unsportsmanlike act.
The full text of that Article reads:
(d) When it comes to the attention of the Commissioner that a student-athlete may be guilty of committing a flagrant, disqualifying foul on the field of play or at a contest site, or may be guilty of any unsportsmanlike act, the Commissioner may rule the student-athlete ineligible permanently or for a fixed period, or the Commissioner may, with or without publicity, warn the student-athlete and the student-athlete’s coach and member institution that, if there is a repetition of such conduct, the student-athlete could be ruled ineligible permanently;.....
--------------------------------------------------
My concern after the Trae Elston suspension, aside from the apparent disparate treatment, was that the suspension for what appeared to most everyone, including the official on the field, to be a legal hit, would cause Trae to be tentative in the future, worried about being considered a repeat violator --- see above quoted provisions from SEC Constitution --- "if there is a repetition of such conduct, the student-athlete could be ruled inelgible permanently". But the silver lining in this new situation with the Tide player and the blatant hypocrisy, is that Slive appears to have now decided to get out of the suspension business and just let the officials on the field handle it, as well as the coaches. We'll see.
If I am the Rebel coaches, I tell Trae Elston to let er rip. Just play good hard nosed football. It would seem that we could use this recent body slam by the Tide player as the new benchmark for any future suspensions. It would have to be REALLY bad to be as bad or worse than that. And if and when such occurs, just write an apology letter and agree to handle it internally. Should work for the rest of the SEC now, right?

Thanks for the welcome and even bigger thank for the roll tide ! Sometimes it is hard to be on top like the tide is right now! It brings out a lot of haters. "The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards !" apparently we even run the sec now!!

Fanning did not make the trip to Knoxville last weekend.
Sometimes discipline is best served in house.
Rest easy, there is plenty of time left in the season for more suspensions by Slive to undisciplined Ole Miss players.
