Penalty hits are getting out of hand

I understand being safe as you possibly can be in a football game, but I have noticed a trend lately of excessive penalties on hits that are, or used to be, legal. Has has anyone else noticed this..

I mean...it is a contact sport the best I can remember...

It's turning into basketball. To expect a safety to think about how he's goin to hit someone before the act is crazy. It's a read, react, and hit game with full contact. You see a pass and the receiver its intended for and all you think is separate ball from player.
