Auburn v MSU Prediction Thread
Who wins and why?
I am gonna stick with my previous prediction and say that Auburn walks into Vegas and walks out with a close win (maybe even overtime win).
Reasons:
- Until proven otherwise, I don't think Russell handles the pass rush well. Auburn has a decent pass rush and will force bad throws and maybe even an interception or two on throwing downs.
- Auburn has already been battle tested on a national stage. They will not be over-hyped for this game (which can often lead to early miscues and burning up too much energy). JSU really didn't give State a true reading of anything...it was a glorified practice game.
- I think Auburn's QB play will be better than State's QB play...overall.
- Mullen hasn't beaten any West team not named Ole Miss...I am sure he can, I am sure he is due, but until proven otherwise, I will stick with that trend.
Auburn 31-28 (2 OTs).

Re: Auburn v MSU Prediction Thread
I am a die hard State fan and they are due for a win, esp against AU, but I will pick Auburn in a close one.
My reason is:
If we play a zone defense, we will get picked apart. We are suppose to have one of the best secondaries in the country. Why we have been playing zone the past few years is baffeling to me. We need to Man Up and play some Bump coverages if they are that good. I think AU will dink and dunk down the field on us.

^^^ had the receivers cooperated on their end, jsu would have had picked our zone apart... many dropped passes by open receivers across our middle.
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...

I agree, I think the JSU quarterback was legit and if they hadn't dropped so many balls they probably would have put some more points on the board. With that said, I'm hoping we were just playing zone because we didnt want to show off our "dynamic" defence that I have been hearing all about...donia wrote:^^^ had the receivers cooperated on their end, jsu would have had picked our zone apart... many dropped passes by open receivers across our middle.

I think Mullen finally gets a win against an sec west team not ole miss. I think state just has a better all around team. It is curious why state runs so much zone. Your best defenses usually run mostly man coverage. Esjay will auburn have their center back this week?

Re: Auburn v MSU Prediction Thread
I am worried from the standpoint that AU played a good team the first game and MSU played JSU. Think we may have a quarter or so of catching up to the level we need to be playing at on Saturday. Could see us being down early in game just like last year. Hope that is not the case. I believe the coaches held alot back on defense vs JSU. We will play some man-to-man and put some pressure on AU QB. This game, IMO, will be alot like the last few between these teams....a pick 'em game.
Are we gonna get wet?

I am looking forward to tailgating with some great friends and would LOVE to see the Dawgs win! However, I just have a feeling they will "State it up" somehow and Auburn pulls out a win. My prediction..... AU 20 MSU 13

Well....I am man enough to admit I was wrong. State is gonna be a factor in the West. 21-10 now...looks to get worse.
