Who has the most to lose over the next 2 weeks?

Postby webbmaster » Thu Aug 30, 2012 6:42 am

South Carolina at Vanderbilt - Cocks have never been gangbusters coming out of the gate. Vandy showed flashes of actual football last year and their coach won't back down. If USCe stumbles, you can probably write them off as East champs. Spurriers ego would take a large hit as well.

Tennessee vs. N.C. State - Vols are on a national stage against a mediocre ACC team. If the Vols are upset in the Georgia Dome, Dooley may not make it through the season. Vols have to win this one for their coach.

Alabama vs. Michigan - Bama should win, but a break out game from Denard Robinson could result in a stunning loss. Wouldn't be the end of the world for Bama. First game of year. Played for the NC last year when losing in November. Winning!

Central Arkansas at Ole Miss/UTEP at Ole Miss - A loss to either of these teams or both would pretty much lose what little of the fanbase is left. Would also set the stage for another season with potential to be worse than the last 2.

Auburn vs. Clemson - A loss to the real Tigers wouldn't effect their SEC West hopes, but they have zero chance of winning it anyway. A blowout loss would make Cheezediks seat a little hotter.
Auburn at Mississippi State - If Aubrun were to lose to Clemson and then lose to MSU, then they are in serious trouble. The Cult will be in full meltdown mode. The "we're a young team" excuse will flow more than ever. Small children will cry. Trees will die. For MSU, this game is huge. A loss at home to a very mediocre Aubrun team early in the season will spell trouble for Mullins and his ability to beat someone in the West not named Ole Miss. A few more hissy fits with the media won't result in much praise from a fanbase who may start to question him. Not many moral victories here either way.

Florida at Texas A&M - Florida can lose this game and still be ok in the East. But a loss would just put Mushcamp right back where he was at the end of last season. A&M has nothing to lose breaking in a new coach and playing their first SEC game.

Georgia at Missouri - This has upset written all over it. Afterall, Georgia has never been one to think they are better than they actually are. Missouri has talent and a good coach. Since UGA has a cupcake schedule, they could recover but no longer be a frontrunner in the East.

These are merely opinions. I am simply an Albanian with no hunting knowledge whatsoever. I have never played or coached college football. I am well versed in moral victory qualifications. I have over 280 Bear Bryant posters in my trailer and have never attended a single class there. Roll Damn Tide!!!

I would agree to most of that other than I think Auburn has a little better shot than you think but I don't think they win.

As bad as I hate to say it that was a good assessment.

I still hate Bama.

I never predicted either way. Personally, I think they beat Clemson and lose a close one to MSU.

You may not agree with everything I say, but lets face it, I am right 99% of the time.

Irrelevant to discussion. I understand though. Fear and jealousy usually lead to hate.

Sorry misread your post. Now I see you were talking about 0% chance they win the west. I thought you meant the Clemson game. I think it will be a good game and I think state may beat them by 10, if Russell plays well.

Anyway college football starts today and I am fired up about that.

Auburn is going to lose to Clemson and beat State. I could be wrong, and reserve the right to be wrong, but I think Tyler Russell is going to struggle early in the year and come on late. My observations on Russell is that he does not handle a pass rush well at all. Auburn should have a fairly effective pass rush and that will tip the balance.

Russell is definetly the key, their defense should be very good. DL seems to be deep and Banks is one of the best corners in the country. I think OL may be better than expected and RBs should be all right, don't know much about their WRs.

These are my thoughts too. I am much concerned over Russell and how he handles things early on. He did get some expereience last year but so far I have not heard great things about his summer practices.

Dude, Bama doesn't have the most to lose?

You are playing for the integrity of our whole conference! If you happen to lose, the fallout in the media will be unstoppable and I don't think i could stand to look at Jim Delaney's smirk if that were to happen.

Please beat the Fighting Delaneys :x

No, they don't. You are applying a different context.

This isn't about media fallout or SEC pride. Its about the rest of the season.

Delaney is all up in yo head.

In response to the original post, the Rebels came through by beating two teams they should beat, SC survived and are 2-0, UGA shut up Mizzou's smack talking , and Auburn is indeed in trouble at 0-2 with no serviceable QB.

But the team with the most to lose was apparently Arkansas. Wow. Bad loss to ULM. And QB Wilson injured in the game. It's been a bad week for the Head Hog. He filed bankruptcy and derailed the Hog train to the national title. The Tide awaits.

Back to Auburn. Has there ever been a worse half of football than the first half played by the Auburn QB? 1 pass completed, for -2 yds passing, 2 interceptions, 1 pick 6. Really? That is beyond bad.

And to Mizzou, welcome to the SEC and big boy, "old man" football.

Ark is done with Wilson out with a broken collarbone.
