It's not on all the models. U might want to check your manual or download it and check if yours does it.bohuntr76 wrote:duramax wrote:get you a viper car alarm and set it to quiet. I have a viper on my truck. Didn't know it would do that? How do you set it to quiet? This alarm was on truck when I bought it. Accidentally found out it had remote start one day when I bumped the remote.
+1 on this solution

Live in the new part of Wildwood. Suppose to be a nice area. Cop who took the report said it's happening everywhere even in Spring Lake and up Mount Vernon Road. Talked to the detective and he said 5 or 6 other cars got hit in this area that night. He said they had a lead from a store clerk who called them because some 17-18 old had just walked into the store trying to sell a GPS to anyone who wanted it. News had a piece back before Christmas of thieves setting up in parking lots of malls and gas stations selling stolen chit out of the back of their vehicle. They said you should know something is up when someone tries to sell you a new wide screen HTV out of the back of a vehicle for $100. The people that buy it don't care if it's stolen. They just got them a great TV to go in their multi bed-roomed manufactured housing unit, AKA mobile home or wobble box.rrussell wrote:what part of tupelo are you in. we had it bad out in belden last year.

I'm in the Thomas Street area in Tupelo. I had my 20 yr.old browning .300 mag stolen two years ago and when I went to see a buddy of mine at the pawn shop he said he heard of 26 break-ins in our area in 2 days. The guy that's getting the GPS's is probably on foot and grabbing anything he can put in his pocket

Whats causing the crime increase? Unemployment? Tupelo used to be a very safe city to live in. I miss being there...

Detective called me and said it's young kids, 17-18, that are doing it. It's happening in neighborhoods that one would think are "safe" because those neighborhoods have the GPS units, the satellite radios, and other things left in the car. It's also more likely that the car will be left unlocked. He said he got a call from a convenience store where some kid walked in trying to sell a GPS unit. He's hoping he's got a lead from that.
Drugs seem to be driving it more than anything else. They can't fence the unit at a pawn shop as that's the first place the cops look. There was an article in the paper talking about how these guys are just selling stuff out of the back of there cars at the mall and gas station. People will buy it knowing it's stolen I guess. Either they do that or just trade it for drugs outright and let the dealer get rid of it.
