What type of food? Something for you and your wife/girlfriend (or special man-friend if you are into that), or just you? ROCA is good, Rusty's has about the best food in Vicksburg (seafood), Beechwood has a great steak (and a dance-bar I'm told.) Goldies is good, but mainly BBQ and not in the same class as ROCA or Rusty's. And I would not recommend the Biscuit Company. The last several times I've been there it has not been any good. Bourbon's in Ameristar and the Buffet in Ameristar are both good, just have to wait awhile to get in.

What time will you get in Friday? If you are around Vicksburg during lunch you need to eat at Bovina Cafe. Friday is jambalaya/beef tips day. Evelyn makes some jambalaya that is out of this world.

Walnut Hills - great meat and three.

If you go on Sunday, get there early.

Go eat at Rocca. It is located at the country club, but is open to the public. Then go to the Blues Bar at Ameristar Casino.

Trey, all the above places are good. Walnut Hills (for lunch) & Rusty's (for dinner) are my 2 favorite places to eat. Roca is pretty good too (get a brick oven pizza). Rusty's has a great atmosphere, but small so get there early and have a beer or 3 while you wait. Beechwood is about a country/redneck bar as it gets. Freebird plays there every 3 songs. It's fun, but watch your back. Meeka can tell you all about it. He hit on my mother-n-law there in front me one night after the west ms hunt test a few years ago. For a good regular bar, hit up the Biscuit Company which is right up the street from Rusty's. Blues Bar at Ameristar is ok too. Call me if you need any more info. I might be over there that weekend. If so, we can teardaclubup!!

I agree with Chuckel12. The Beechwood is a place I do not care to visit because it can be rough. The Buscuit Company has had good food in the past, but it has turned into mostly a bar scene, so I do not care to eat there. I prefer Roca, Duff's Tavern and Rusty's for food. As Chuckle12 stated, if you go to Roca, get a pizza. If I am going to eat steak, I prefer Duff's Tavern. All three places have a very good fried green tomato appetizer.

Someone mentioned Walnut Hills. Since you will be here Friday-Sunday, unless you plan on eating lunch Sunday at Walnut Hills, it will be a no-go. Walnut Hills is closed on Saturday's and is only open for lunch on Sunday. Now, you can go there for the 9.99 lunch special on Friday, but this does not include your drink. You get a choice of meat and three country vegetables. Toney's off of Indiana Avenue as a good lunch M-F for $8 including your drink and tax which comes with one meat and two country vegetables, soup and salad bar. For an after hour drink, I would say Duff's Tavern or Toney's. Both of these places is more of the 35 and above places and very low key.

You will be pressed to find a spot to get a good meal Sunday evening. Most of Vicksburg is shut down. You will have you choice of fastfood places and Cracker Barrel. Oh, there is always the casino's.

Which really aren't bad. You'll pay a steep price, but Ameristar has a pretty good buffet. I'll eat a whole chicken worth of fried chicken there.

Good tips above on restraunts, I like Billies at the outlet mall for cheap lunch or pizza. If you want the best food in town go to Anchuca, you can walk in for lunch on Friday but you will need reservations at night $$$. I like Rusty's and Rocca's also, you cant go wrong. Went to the Biscuit company once, service was aweful so I do not waste my time there. If you want a casino buffet I believe Ameristars is pretty dang good. If you want drive thru Goldies Express.

Places to visit are the military park, old courthouse museum, Corner drug store (look at the gun collection) if you are into old guns and while your downtown check out the riverfront murals.

The Antebellum home "McRaven" is a cool spooky tour. Place still gives me the heebie jeebies ever since I was little. Took a whole roll of film pictures...none of them developed about 10 years ago...no lie. creepy place.
