What notch is the motor set on?

Have you tried moving the battery or gas tank around?

I had a 1648 Polarkraft years ago with a 30hp on it and also had planing trouble at low speeds. I added one of those Hydro-fin things and it cured the problem. Easier steering and maneuverability as well.

My Old 1542 with a 2 stroke 30hp had problems planing out with any type of load. Had to shift all the weight forward to TRY to get her on plane. I am willing to bet that triton is a heavy boat and your 25HP might not be enough.

As trip said, try moving weight around. Move things to the front of the boat to counter balance your weight in the rear. Batteries and 6 gallons of gas also get heavy back there..

Good luck..

You got the wrong prop on there I thank

I got a War Eagle 1542 with the same motor and I got a 9.5 D x 10 P prop on mine.

The big the pitch you got you gain speed but lose power. the lower your pitch more power less speed. Then if you get to playing with different bladed props if you go with a 4 bladed prop you going to gain more power, faster hole shot speed, and more handling but less then speed and its totally opposite with 3 blade. You gain speed loss hole speed and power.

Is your prop a stainless or aluminum

Well I got one from the dealer that was a SOLAS prop it was a P.O.S. and I highly recommend everyone to leave them alone it you duck hunt. There fine for someone who don't run in shallow water or complete baby’s a motor. But the Mercury props are what I use there a little higher then the SOLAS props but there a lot stronger prop and will run ya about 115 bucks verses a SOLO for 85 buck. But if you go Stainless you looking at about 150 dollars for a aftermarket prop or you can go Mercury and spend 350-380 somewhere in there but I stick with the aluminum just bc if you hit something hard with that stainless you going to cost yourself dearly as were you hit with a aluminum you can just go buy you a new prop. NOT SAYING YOU CAN’T hit something hard enough with a aluminum and tear up the lower unit or bend a shaft bc you can!! It’s just not as likely with a aluminum.

If you need one or need help finding one let me know I got a guy here in Louisville that caries the Mercury and the SOLAS.

Maybe not.. As mentioned, weight distribution is crucial to the performance of a boat.

That prop should be fine. You may have some other problem. (like throttle not opening wide open, or out of sync with the timing) Im running a 542 war eagle with a 25 yamaha 4 stroke with a 12 pitch prop and it does ok. Planes out great. My boat is pretty heavy though. It's a .100 ga hull, tall transom with a full floor and a gun box. I did have to raise my motor an inch over the transom. They basicaly are the same motors though. Im just not familiar with the triton hull. You need to put a tachometer on it to really tell what you are doing. That motor needs to turn around 53 to 5500 RPM's Go down an inch or 2 in wheel size and just see. The four strokes are not going to leap out of the hole like a 2-stroke. Whale tales and other garbage like that only serve to correct an improper setup. There are certian combos that cannot operate sufficiently without them though.

its sounds like the same set-up .i guess i will just have to try something different.always ran yamaha motors four-strokes.i know there not good out of the hole.but pulled cranks with the motor does fine.just will not plane out.seems like plenty of power.i have my camper at enid.who around there could i take it too.i come back to new albany for a few days but will back at enid for the next four weeks.thanks

I would try moving things around in the boat before you put a fin or whale tail on your motor.
