O/U ?

Postby JB » Fri Oct 05, 2001 10:54 pm

Any of you guys shoot and O/U for ducks. My regular duck gun is a 390 but I've wanted an O/U for a long time. I'll probably only occasionally take the O/U hunting and mainly upland bird and target with the O/U. I'm looking at the Beretta Whitewing or Silver Pigeon (will probably stick with Beretta). Any suggestions or comments? Thanks ....Jeff B

beretta's a good gun for sure. but before you spend that much money, you oughta at least look at the browning over/unders. they're not cheap either, but to me, the browings just feel better. beautiful guns as well. but i'm sure everybody's got an opinion.

i used one for duck hunting last year - a traditions o/u (cheaper italian model)just traded it for a new AL 391 - o/u's kick way too hard when shooting 3" shells, at least mine did - it would also shoot 3 1/2's, no way i was goin there - my 2 cents

I have shot a Beretta 686 and a 682 at ducks, it is kind of a hassle since you pay that much for a gun, you worry about it going swimming. And all my duck guns end up swimming

I was all hyped to buy one and then thought about my blind.
I shoot out of a pit and I think trying to break the gun to reload might be a problem.
Something you may want to consider.

My Dad started me with a Stevens Model 240
o/u 410 then I was moved up to a Beretta
Silver Snipe 20, Finally I got to hunt with a 12, it also is a Silver Snipe. In flooded
timber you can't beat that 12. I still have
all 3, most of the time hunt with 870.

I'll sell you my Beretta 686. It's in perfect condition, but I just never use it.
