Dave Ramsey followers
Re: Dave Ramsey followers
Dave does not say wait till your fifty. He says pay cash for it. Reason being so it times like now when gases prices are up and other things are more expensive they do not have money going every where every month to pay different bills. Hence they have the money to buy gas and groceries and dont have to piss and moan about the economy.

Dave's pholosphy is what your parents/grandparents lived by. Buy what you need, not what you want, and pay cash for it. If you can't pay cash for it, do without until you can. The house mortage is excluded in this sernerio of course. I wish I had listened to my Dad when he was trying to teach me this as a young lad, but I didn't, and you know the rest of that story, but now I am retired and doing okay. I sure did take a long time for me to wise up. My paid for vehicles sure do ride goood. Life is good and God is awesome.

Your right.. Most of this stuff is common sense (even Dave states that). I too wish I had listened to my Dad when I was younger.. Sometimes it takes a complete stranger to state the obvious.. And you have to hit rock bottom before your willing to change your ways.. As least that is the way it was for me.

That is correct, but it shouldn't take paying Dave $179 to figure it out.
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?
Re: Dave Ramsey followers
You just don't like him cause he is making money huh?
True the package to go thru FPU is not cheap.. I think it was 100.00 when I took the class.. But there are manuals, worksheets, envelope system and cd's all in that pack. So there is expense to produce the package.. Sure it probably not 149.00 bucks. But I promise you this if you are at the end of your rope (like I was) it is sure worth it..

Not that he's making money. he's a multi-millionaire and got that way by getting from people who don't have it to waste. I like him and agree with a lot of what he says, just not all. He has helped a lot of people.

amen cwinkler.
Sure davi is making alot of money but dave preachers 3 things to do with money. save, GIVE, and spend. Everytime I listen to Dave which is almost daily I hear him talking about giving. Who much is giving much is required.

I don't agree with everthing either.. And I don't follow his principles to a T.. But I will say this. The class saved my marriage and my finances. It gave my wife and I a basis to discuss finances. In other words. We sit down every month and do our finances together. All things are labeled before the money comes in. No arguments, no fighting (except when I want to use her clothes money for a new gun)

You have fallen into his trap. Not doubting that it saved your marriage etc..., BUT you could have come talk to me for free and I would have told you, live within your means, have a budget, etc...
Or, you could have talked to a preacher, or read a book on personal finance, or read the Bible. There are a lot of free materials that tell you the same thing. Dave is an egotistical maniac who is getting rich off people who are at their most vulnerable stages. Then people like yourself call his show and make him out to be a hero. Why is he a hero? Once again, because he told you not to buy a bunch of crap you can't afford??? Dave is a predator in my eyes. I am glad you saved your marriage, etc..., but dave did not help you. Your will, along with God's will saved your marriage.

Dont you think GOd may have had a hand in him finding dave ramsey. and just maybe God is using Dave as his vessel to reach many people who normally do not put there own common sense into action. In turn the Lord has blessed Ramsey!! Just a theory.
All I can speak for is myself and personally I know God sent dave in my life at just the right time and now I am on my way to debt free living with fully funded emergency funds and maxing out investments. I also know there is not a day that goes by that I listen to dave that he does not give away so many books, so many live event tickets, so many other things and he never fails to mention how God has blessed him and he gives him all the glory. Dave's fpu classes are not cheap nor is the material he uses and gives you in the package. I have said it before and will say it again I have yet to hear of anyone that has made it all the way through dave's fpu class and put it fully into practice that is not satisfied and felt like they received a lot more than they paid for. I also know someone personally that is one of Dave's endorsed local providers and as stated yes it cost alot but he said he made up for it in the referalls he receives from dave and his business is thriving. My thinking is this Dave has helped many of people and yet to harm anyone (that is if they kept doing it the way he shows you)

You have to understand that different tactics work for different people. And I have never said Dave is my Hero, nor have I ever called into his show. I am very skepitcal about anything that looks like a "scam" and when before I started this that is what I thought it would be, this time I was wrong.

Re: Dave Ramsey followers
I never paid 150 for fpu, the only money dave got from me was when my wife and I went to his live events and we bought some books. Heck I gave the books to folks who I knew could use them after my wife and I got out of debt. Folks are ignorant if they believe it will take them 30 years to have anything following Dave's advice. We have been out of debt around 3 years (except for the house) and I know it has relieved alot of stress from our marriage.
I was talking to one of my friends wife when we were going through Dave's plan and she looked at me and told me Jim you will never have anything. Looking back I wish they would have took my advice, they have been through foreclosers and the works since then. I dont follow all Dave's advice to the T, for example my wife wanted a new car, well we saved up and got her one. It felt good leaving the dealership owing nothing, knowing we worked for it and EARNED IT.
