Beartail hunt club
Beartail hunt club
I was just reading the online brochure and I just find it hard to believe that they kill 3000 to 4000 ducks annually. First off, it is not even in the delta. And although it is close, that part of the delta is not really considered one of the better delta regions to be in to hunt ducks. I am just saying averaging 66 ducks a day anywhere for 60 days on only 200 acres is just a little hard to believe. Does anybody know the real story about beartail?

that might be little inflated those numbers work out if you kill that many ducks every day of a 60 day season
i thought about purchasing it just because it looked like a nice place and its kind of close to where i live but damn auction company wouldnt take a check i told em that it was good as gold

don't know how many they kill, but the pictures are awful dang convincing...
that part of the woods is covered up with ducks, because they got the prime location...
if you've never seen it, you don't know what your missing...

Just because it's not in the delta doesn't mean it's not a duck producing location. I have grown hunting and fishing in the area. 3000 is not too hard to believe. 6 ducks per day, 60 days, 3000 / 360 = 8. So if they took 8 people a day for everyday of the season and limited out everyday, they would meet their 3000 duck number. I'm sure they didn't have 8 hunters everyday. Some days could be less, some days could be more. They may be counting double dipping too?(not that folks do that) Of course you have to realize that this number probably didn't come from last years numbers.
I have hunted the Corp land near Beartail several times over the years. I do not doubt their estimate of ducks bagged. I remember vividly hearing them shoot long after I was using a flashlight to walk back out from my stand. My best guess is that they were shooting at silhouttes highlighted against the sky.
I assume they had good numbers roosting on their place. They did have some really good dove hunts on their Tallahatchie county land, and I didn't notice any after dark shots down there.

Please Dawgs win one.

Yes, an auction ultimately decides the selling cost of the property, but if someone comes up with the original asking price then the property will not be sold at auction. So I have heard.
Also the seller has the reserved the right to not sell if bidding does not reach a reserved minimum.
Sorry for the confusion.

Yall are right...The Beartail Lodge and some hunting land is on the Coldwater River bottoms near Hernando/Senatobia, which is a good duck area but they also have several locations in the Delta including Tallahatchie County where they have great duck and dove hunting...Those numbers probably include geese which they kill a lot of in the Delta...

just one word i would look for in this process ABSOLUTE as in absolute auction some one that is wanting to buy this piece might do a lot of leg work just to find out there is a high reserve and the property want sell unless that is reached/ hey if i had plenty of money and you all know/// to much money and a duck hunting redneck is a very dangerous thing

Big joke!!!!!!! Nowhere near 3000. Lucky to see 1000. 200 acres at the home place a couple other places they used to lease won't even come close. You have to jump through alot of hoops to get the numbers to work out. I don't think any knowledgable hunters were suppose to read the brochure. Corporate folks, only. While your doing that math why not assume they took 100 hunters a day for 5 days and limited out everyman everyday. Anybody remember last year??? Kinda hard to limit out one man.
Sound familiar?
