Polaris Ranger ?

Postby dawg-n-duck » Mon Feb 19, 2007 12:03 pm

Has anyone that owns a ranger had the steering box go out on it? My ranger will turn fine to the left; but it will not turn at all to the right. It feels as if the gears are stripped and the wheel is not catching at all. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what is it going to cost me for the parts and the labor or is it something that I can do myself??

Thanks

Have not had a chance to try it yet. i will try it on thursday or Fri and post up. I cannot see how it would work but I hope like hell that it does. They want around $300 for the steering box around that to put it on. I might just be making a lot of left turns for a while.

watch out waterfowl!!!!!!

We saw about 6 Toms hanging out yesterday n the wind. I never seen Turkeys when the wind was blowing that hard.

We move some water south! Taking handy cam next Saturday for Turkeys and Dynamite.

It sounds like maybe a CV joint gone bad. I had
one go bad on a four-wheeler and it did exactly
like you are describing. Pretty expensive fix.
Good luck.

I am pretty sure it is the steering box and they are around $300, but the major pain is disassembling the whole front end to replace it. Definately not a CV joint - but i had to replace one earlier this year on the 4 wheeler and you are right it was expensive.
