Live Beavers ?

Postby joldshoe » Sat Nov 25, 2006 10:13 pm

I need to get hold of some live beavers (the rodent kind) to help us dam up a hunting hole....the family that lived in there apparently left this past summer....

If you know where I can get some, preferably already trapped, please post here or send me a PM....

Thanks,

John O

I have never heard of anyone wanting a beaverrodent. I would call the DWFP and see if they have any ideas. I know plenty of fols that want to get rid of them.

Well that is why you went to OLE PISS.... if you have a drainage slough that floods in a soybean field thanks to a beaver dam then the beavers disappear and the farmer does not want you tearing up the field with machinery then what else would you suggest Colonel Reb Brainiac...????

I would suggest contacting a MDWFP biologist on the matter, they are funny about transporting live animals.

Dude it has nothing to do with Ole MISS. I just said it sounded odd to want to move beavers on to your land. There have got to be other ways to do this. What are you a STATE fan with little mans syndrome.

What would I suggest. Finding a new place to hunt

I am all ears for any suggestions you have....but just replacing the beavers seems like the easiest solution to me...

I don't know anything about the place. Is there a culvert letting the water go off the property. If so plug it up. If not then it sounds like it will take a lot of water to fill the slough up. If that is the case then pray for rain

Yep...it is over in the Delta and something like plugging up the culvert might work, but I figured the beavers had more time and knowledge than I did about getting it flooded back the way it was.....I am gonna pray for lots of rain...and beavers....

Replacing beavers would be easy...but you dont know what them jokers might do. I would get 4 or 5 guys together with shovels and machettes and do my best to imitate what beavers do where they normally do it.

Purposefully bringing in beavers is like purposefully bringing in hogs. The headaches aren't gonna be worth what benefit you might get. If a beaver dam is what you want...well...they're not exactly gonna make the next episode of "Modern Marvels." Build one. Or you could just stop up a culvert and look at all the pretty trees that'll still be there because you didn't haul in a bunch of beavers.

And the Egg Bowl is over. You need to get over the fact that you lost.
