I’ve got an 11 yr old arthritic male lab. I’ve been certain for a while he had arthritis, and the vet confirmed it last Friday. I purchased a 10 day supply of Remydyl. I could tell it made it feel better, but at $2.00/pill, it will get expensive.
Any good places to buy Rimadyl?
Any other good meds?
The vet was pushing a dog food that is supposed to stimulate growth of new cartilage. Anybody have any experience with it?
Thanks!

There is a medicine called bute, which is short for a some long medical word. Years ago, people with server arthritus would go to Mexico for treatments that they couldn't get in the US. The medicine given to the patients was bute. If taken for a long time it can cause other health problems. Another drug given by vets for arthritus is cosiquin(sp?) I don't know much about it. You are right, the Rimadyl is expensive but it works. My old lab Jack was on it for the last 3 years of his life. He was active until his last few days life when he died at 13 years. It certainly gave him an extra 2 year of quality life.

I believe Smith and Foster (or something like that) had it for around $1 / pill. I'll try to find my magazine and post later.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I did a little searching on the net last night for Remydyl prices and found where it could be purchased for just less than $1.00/pill before shipping costs. That is a lot better. It said I must have a prescription from the vet though. Anybody ever had a problem getting a prescription from their vet when you will be cutting them out of making a dollar?
My vet only charged me $281.00 to tell me my dog was healthy and had arthritis
There has to be a lot more money in being a vet than a medical doctor!
I'll have to look up Smith and Foster online. I would feel better doing buisiness with them than an some internet only company unless someone has a recommendation.
Thanks again!

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) an analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory agent is chemically, 2-(Acetyloxy)benzoic acid.
MOTRIN tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen, which is (±) - 2 - (p - isobutylphenyl) propionic acid.
Not the same.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)
