It was duck season this past weekend wasn’t it?

Postby Wildfowler » Sun Nov 26, 2017 5:08 pm

Hope I’m not the only one who thought duck season was open around here? Our Group hunted the past three days and did exceptionally well.

What say you?

Wing man, if I’m guilty of hunting out of season since no one else is talking about duckhunting this weekend, you know where to find me.

Third year in a row with low to no water in places that have historically always had water. May be time to invest in a pump.

Anything nearby that you can pump out of or would you have to drill a well?

I’ve had a couple tankfuls the propane consumed recently.

You know, if we don’t get a rain soon some of these deer food plots look like they may be getting ready to burn up also. I guess from a deer Hunter’s perspective it’s better than last year because by this time last year we still had dirt plots with nothing germinated in them if I remember correctly?

What about Snowgoose and specs? Is it open this week during the week? I just found a spot that was loaded with them and they may need attending to during the split?

Yeah, there's a lake I can draw from. Submitted the paperwork for a pumping permit last month, still waiting on the county clerk to process it.

Some of our deer stands are in tupelo gum breaks and usually require getting in a john boat to access them, but they're bone dry right now. Deer are bedding in places that usually have 2-3 feet of water. But, our food plots look pretty good, and better than last year.

It's a weird thing, for the last few decades more often than not we've had more than enough water. Outlier years were most frequently ones in which we had too much water; the opposite has been true for the past 5 years.

So this was sort of like one of those fake news reports is what you're saying?
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

Correct. I am waiting for Trump to tweet about it.
