OOC...freak accident
Looks like I'm gonna be Out Of Commission for a while. I slipped walking down a hill last wednesday and twisted my back a little. I never hit the ground, but the pain started right away. My doctor believes I have ruptured a disk in my lower back. I'll know a little more thursday.
This happens the weekend before I was going on my first duck hunt of the season. Now it looks like I won't get to do any hunting for a while. I stalled on going duck hunting all year long and it looks like I screwed myself out of a full season. Thats what I get for not going when I had a chance.

If the disk is just bulging, antiinflamatory drugs will be your best friend.

if it is a slipped disk, and they decide to operate, you will feel 10x better the same day as the surgery.
My bro sells the stuff dr's use to fix backs, and he sees it all the time.

My Uncle is hunting with a torn rotator cuff, a new hip, and a bad eye....shoots left handed, but has to shoot right handed due to the rotator cuff.....busted the rotator after falling on his shoulder to save the hip.....2 years ago, he hit a asphalt truck that was dead on the bridge in the fog....hit it doing about 65-70 without hitting the brakes....put a V10 in his lap....broke 12 ribs, ankles, fibia, tibia, femurs, you name it, he broke it....broke his wrist in 6 places....doctor that met him in the ER said that in all his 35+ years of practice, he had never seen someone so bad to live to talk about it....bottom line, he's hunting with a cane, someone puts on his waders/shoes, and does all the work, but he's there....he's the one driving the boat in the pic on the other thread.....do you what you can, and surround yourself with good friends/family to help you do what you love and care about.....

Yes hoss, I do.....if he kills me in the marsh coming back from hunting or on my way to his blind, than I can't think of a better way to go out.....It's sad to watch a man that took me hunting when no one else would be in pain.....he made the comment the other day when we were hunting that I could go ahead and shoot all his too....he said " I had to kill yours for all these years, least you can do for me is to shoot mine!"....I just laughed to myself....He's had diabetes forever and his vision was damaged during the accident also....imagine shooting with the opposite arm and not being able to see.....first 3 singles of the morning came in on his side.....12 oclock....1 oclock.....45 yards....30 yards....take 'em....and he's still looking out the front of the blind....hell, I couldn't shoot over his head....he then told me about 45 minutes into the hunt that I'd have to take the shots, call 'em, basically do it all....it was heart breaking to say the least, but he was still there and that's all that really matters......People don't realize how good we have it until you see someone with desire that can't do anymore.....He's special.....a dying breed if you ask me.....he's the kind of man that would hunt if the limit was one and fills the day in the blind talking 'bout what was and how good it used to be.....the stories alone are worth the trip....he's a one in a million good hearted coon-ass....
