Re: Self guided hunts
Apparently Charles Snapp is now mayor of Walnut Ridge, (Charles was Davey Crockett Guide Services).
I don't think he fools with that any more.
I'm out of the loop too, others may know of an opportunity.

Re: Opening weekend forecast
Very quiet at the local WMA. Got skunked.
Not even the deer or squirrel hunters stayed past 9:00 a.m.
Made the best of it by making some far away scouting trips on foot, easy walking under current conditions, and no one else hunting.

Re: Opening weekend forecast
Nary a duck. Dry as a mummies pocket. Friday rain? Bring it on.
A couple wood ducks maybe, but Ill be ready for deer & pigs, which is more likely.
Could it be a trifecta weekend? I tell you this, the sportsman is eternally optimistic.

Clay Newcomb - Bear Grease - Holt Collier
I figured this crowd would enjoy a very good podcast on Holt Collier. The host is Clay Newcomb, who is part of Steven Rinellas "Meateater" crew. Clay's podcast name is "Bear Grease" and he does a deep dive on Holt, interviewing Minor Ferris Buchannon, Hank Burdine and Jonathan Wilkins. It's a three ...

If you want something done right...........
Congratulations, not as easy as it looks, and a lot of work. I halfway started trapping, then realized the time commitment and said fuggetaboutit.

Re: Ammo
For blasting ammo I start here: ammoseek.com but there are few deals out there now, anywhere. I have very little loyalty except to Ammoman. I like they way they price things. The price that you see is the price, shipping is "free" or more accurately described, "included".

Re: New legislation proposed to require permit to hunt with dogs - includes duck dogs
I just took the time to read this legislation, one word : unbelievable.
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read, why not get a permit for the fleas too?

Re: So, anyone doing any good?
It's been a steady wood duck smack down in my location. I've seen eight mallards. Very grateful for the morning flight. Maybe this Saturday after this northern weather,............. the sportsman is eternally optimistic.

Re: Stolen Boat...Just Cannot Stand a Thief!
The thing about thieving, the person doing it knows it ain't theirs, knows it and they don't care. If you catch them, you show them what "not caring" is all about.
All of my radar and antenna will be on full power.
Probably close by, too much work for lazy POS thief to move it far.

Missing Duck unters - Not Sounding Good
These two young guys and their dog are missing, hunting out of Letourneu landing, Mississippi River. Boat found capsized. This occurred Thur-Friday? I've been hoping for an update, lot of folks looking this weekend, lot of hunters out there looking too. Let's hope they got lucky.

Re: War Eagle Boats
I can't get before pictures to post up, from imgur. Oh well.
Anywho, the stencils were fun but probably not necessary, I didn't worry too much about it, it's a duck boat. I guess I've painted three or four, plus a canoe or two? As long as the ducks don't mind, no Russian judges will deduct style ...

Re: War Eagle Boats
My '95 with Bottomland was in need of some love. Paint was worn off of the horizontal surfaces but the vertical surfaces were amazingly in great shape. I too considered the factory option, but the hassle and cost was a deal breaker, really the hassle factor. (most do it yourself projects aren't a ...

Re: Stimulus
teul2 - I built a .300 in both pistol and rifle form. I'm no ballistics expert but the real fun in .300 is with subsonic and a suppressor. The pistol is a fun option, and hard to believe the brace is legal. I guess it's a bigger .30 cal hammer in other loads. For simple downrange banging you could ...
