2" Trash pump for first time pumping. Then bilge pump with 12 volt battery to get any small water out during hunting season.
Submersible electric pump works good to but you have to have a generator or power.

I think that youth stock and 22 inch barrel would be great. I was actually looking for that set up when I bought the 1187 youth model. When he gets a little bigger and wants a longer barrel he could transition to the beretta.

Lodi, I agree with you on the barrel length. It is not the weight of the gun that was an issue. It was too long a barrel (26") that he couldnt swing at 7 and 8 or even 9 years old. Gas autoloader with 2.75 20 ga. recoil should not be a problem if he is excited about shooting it. Have him wear ear ...

My son is into his third year of hunting with a youth model 1187 20 ga. turkey gun. It has been great. When he was smaller, the 21 inch barrel was perfect. He just turned 12 and it is still good but I am wanting a longer barrel. He is on the small side but has been shooting since he was 6 so recoil ...
