Re: ducks
I second the robo-less rig. Birds often are attracted from a distance by spinning-wing decoys, but won't finish well with them, especially later in the season. I'd put em up and use a jerk-string or some form of motion decoy that's more subtle (bilge pump feeder decoy or mallard machine). Experiment ...

Re: Poor, poor, huntin' in the middle of mississipp
Birds seem to be very spotty, there one day and gone the next. We've had good shoots compared to what I'm hearing from other hunters...but if you factor in the road time and money spent on gas, the ducks we've killed have not been cheap! Hopefully we'll see some new birds soon, but with southern ...

Tried out a Zink Power Hen 2 call recently...immediately got one ordered. Say what you will about double reeds, but that thing sounds like pure duck!

Re: Easton Maryland
Surprise, I am here...good call though, Dukgrl...you know how this time of year is.
Smith, I am from about 30 mins north of Easton. Easton has some great hunting, especially if you're getting to hunt private lands. Many of the lands that border the eastern shore of the bay have private ...

Re: Exhaust on my mud motor
BPS, evt, or marshmellow...i've heard of several problems with the hopkins (though no personal experience, so I can't vouch for it-- I just know I heard enough bad things to keep me from buying one.) I have the BPS twins on my mudbuddy-- sound great, and they just look cool

Re: migration is on
Saw about a dozen mallards yesterday circling a flooded cornfield...and my hunting buddy found about 50 pintail and teal feeding in a hole this past weekend. not huge numbers but more than I'm used to seeing in mid-october. come on, nov 27!

Re: Chevy HD 2500 Question
The 06 my father owns is a duramax with the allison 6-speed transmission. the truck will flat out haul! It shifts like a dream and has more power than you can imagine (and it's stock-- i don't even see why anyone would need a chip to add horsepower or torque to those things, believe me they've got ...

Re: Flooded oaks question
Bottomland oaks are generally tolerant of flooding during dormancy, but repeated flooding during the growing season can eventually hurt them. Many trees are starting to drop leaves now, but to be on the safe side, I would wait as long as I could to flood the oaks so that they could get closer to ...

Re: Chevy HD 2500 Question
oh buddy you just opened up a can of worms!
I own an '02 2500hd (gas guzzler) with 180,000 miles...my father owns 3 heavy duty models ranging from a '95 to an '06. Two of these have close to 200,000 miles. The reason we have a yard full of chevy's is cuz we've both owned f-250's and I once made ...

Re: Remington 11-87
Bought one about 6 years ago...used it one season, sold it and bought a benelli. good guns if you keep them clean, but any mud or dirt in the o-rings and you suddenly have a very expensive single shot.
